Valdemir A. Pires

Professor Pires is the head of the departmment of public administration at Faculdade de Ciências e Letras of Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" at Araraquara, where he teaches public finance and public financial and budgetary management. He has a first degree in economics from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas, a master's in economics from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Sao Paulo, and a PhD in education from Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba. He is the leader of a research group on the control of public spending, and an expert in participatory budgeting.
